Perhaps you've miss taken me
People I don't know that well, when they want to be affectionate with me, add "Miss" to my first name. So, imagine that Wonder is my first name and Turtle is my last name.

I've never heard anyone else's name used this way. Is it because my actual first name is only one syllable? Do they think of me as a Southern lady and themselves as somehow subordinate? Are they trying to be formal but have forgotten my last name?

Down here in the south, that's how they address everyone. Especially kids addressing adults. Me, I'd rather be Dr. Girl than Miss Jersey...makes me feel like some sort of spoiled southern belle...
'cause it's fun to say "Miss Coaster Punchman". I may go around calling random strangers that now that I think about it.
I admit to calling you Miss Wonder. I do it to other people though, not just you, but I don't really know why I do it. Actually, I spent much of last summer calling you Lyn, so Miss Wonder is kind of an improvement.

CP, that explains it! Only misunderstood geniuses (and people in the South) get this moniker. Lu, you clearly have a good sense for these things.
